Shouldn't an American President be allowed to assassinate American citizen without due process?

Um...no. If a President can do that, then the entire executive branch can do that. If the entire executive branch can do it, then Congress could also order it (by statute). If Congress and the executive branch could order it, then, well, we may as well tear the bill of rights to shreds, especially the Fourth and Sixth Amendments.
